Summer breeze in Winter

I was a tree, stripped bare by autumn winds;
and you were the spring that returned my branches to the light.

I was a bird, afraid to spread its wings;
and you were the goddess who awakened the courage within me
to soar beyond the horizon.

I was a man who no longer believed in the coming of dawn,
and you unveiled the hidden wonders of the universe before my eyes.

Now my happiness shines upon the world,
for I already hear the melodies of spring birds,
feel the cool breeze of April brushing against my face,
and above all — in finding you —
I received my New Year’s gift long before the year began.
